Come to Festambiente
The ViEnergy Vigna Energetica project will be present at the first edition of FestAmbiente Mediterraneo, the National Eco-Festival dedicated to the Mediterranean area which from this year becomes part of the Legambiente festival network. The event dedicated to environmental sustainability and information on this issue is scheduled for the first time in Palermo, at the Fabbriche Sandron complex (Via Ferro Luzzi, 3-5) from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st December from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm and from 5.00 pm to 1.00 am.
The aim of the organizers is to exploit this moment as an opportunity for discussion between the various actors operating in the environmental and social fields - Institutions, Universities and Research Centers of the countries bordering the Mediterranean - focusing attention on resource management and the need for common environmental, energy and economic policies.
In this scenario, thanks to the role of partner of the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil with Legambiente, the sustainability issues contained in the ViEnergy - Vigna Energetica project will be explored in depth to a public sensitive to the issues of environmental protection and energy saving. The project, which sees Sicilian and Maltese public bodies and private entities cooperating in synergy, aims to strengthen the attractiveness and competitiveness of the cross-border area in the center of the Mediterranean, putting into practice, within the wine sector, a range of actions respecting environmental sustainability.
During the intense weekend, the project partners will have the opportunity to make the FestAmbiente Mediterraneo public aware of every specific aspect of the energy theme proposed by ViEnergy, which aims to obtain the production efficiency of the vineyard according to eco-criteria compatibility. There will also be space for in-depth analysis of some research aspects of ViEnergy - Vigna Energetica, linked to the opportunities offered by new forms of alternative energy, through the use of waste materials from the winemaking process such as prunings and pomace.

This is the scenario on which the cross-border project ViEnergy - Vigna Energetica - co-financed by the European Union within the Italy-Malta Operational Program 2007 - 2013 in support of joint interventions for the prevention of natural and anthropogenic risks, moves.
ViEnergy, Vigna Energetica involves the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil, in the role of project leader, the CO.RI.SSIA, the Research Consortium for the Development of Innovative Agri-food Systems, the Center for Studies of Applied Economics engineering of the University of Catania, the ABE srl Alternative Bioenergy company of Marsala and, for the Maltese side – the Ministry of the Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change and the University of Malta.
