Swissicily, the best of Sicily
Positive return, for the world of Sicilian wines, from the Scandinavian countries. A stage that aroused the interest of many buyers, entrepreneurs and journalists in the sector who flocked during the three "stops", namely Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm. But IRVOS's activity on the internationalization front does not stop. The next stop, from 20 to 22 February, will in fact be Switzerland. Twenty-three Sicilian wineries involved.
“Our activity aimed at making the wines of Sicily known – explains Dario Cartabellotta, general director of the Regional Institute of Wines and Oils of Sicily – is further intensifying this year and our interest is in making these stages “virtuous and fruitful." Those in India and in the Scandinavian countries for that matter have been”. In India, in particular, work has been done on lowering duties, while in the Scandinavian countries on state monopolies.
“Food and wine today represents one of the most important sectors of Made in Italy and Sicily stands out in this area. – states Luca Maroni, world-renowned oenologist and organizer of the stop in Switzerland – This island is capable of excelling in the sector due to the admirable quality of its wines and its foods, even more so due to the almost intact magnificence of the landscape, due to its vocation to the production of its stupendous naturalistic territory". Thus the Regional Institute of Wines and Oils of Sicily together with Luca Maroni intend to shed light on this Sicilian "wealth" by presenting to one of the most passionate and important markets in Europe, the Swiss one, a selection of twenty-three Sicilian companies of absolutely excellent quality. A tangible example of the value and competitiveness achieved by Sicily's wine excellences. The event will take place in two stages: Monday 20 February at the Restaurant Metropol in Zurich, starting at 2.30 pm and Wednesday 22 at the Lausanne Palace & Spa in Lausanne, again starting at 2.30 pm. On both occasions, Maroni will present and illustrate the Sicilian wineries and their wines to operators in the sector and to the public of enthusiasts during a free tasting.
