Sicilia Gusto Mediterraneo, 4 stops in Germany

“Sicily Mediterranean Taste”. This is the name of the IRVOS project conceived and organized by PRC Re Pubbliche aimed at valorising and marketing the products of Sicilian companies on the German market. Wine and more. Extra virgin olive oil and fish are also "Ambassadors" of Sicily. These three products, protagonists of excellence in the Mediterranean diet, will promote Sicily in Germany in four stages starting from October 2012. Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg and Berlin. In short, a Road Show.

Meanwhile, the project will be presented to the press and operators in Cologne on 26 June. Steffen Maus, German journalist and media partner of the project, will lead a seminar dedicated to Sicilian wines. For the occasion there will be a first tasting of Sicilian products.

The idea of “Sicilia Gusto Mediterraneo” was born from the awareness that the German market represents an important reference market for exports for Italian wines. In fact, imported Italian wine stands at as much as forty-two percent. In practice, out of thirteen million imported wines, approximately six are Italian wines. But not only. According to the most recent consumption trends of Italian wines, the wine productions of the southernmost regions of Italy are currently those that attract the greatest interest and curiosity. They constitute a novelty and recall territories and production environments linked to the fame of the landscapes and the most authentic Mediterranean culture. A good reason and time to promote Sicily and its products. The four German stages, where the focus will be on sector operators (buyers, restaurateurs, importers), will take place through meetings on the BtoB method. There are twenty-one participating Sicilian wineries and five companies producing extra virgin olive oil. Companies that have been technically followed and prepared for the Road Show through summary sheets containing notes relating to product, price, promotion conditions, location (logistics). An activity carried out in advance by Antonio Mercadante, export consultant, with the aim of selecting the companies most suited to the German market by price and product types with particular attention to the main reference target group, i.e. catering and distribution. A targeted preparation therefore to optimize concrete results from a commercial point of view. The project's logistical partner is the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Germany.
