Internationalization Program 2013
The internationalization program drawn up by IRVOS for 2013 was presented at Castello Utveggio in Palermo. A program full of seminars, fairs and tastings which will start at the end of January with the Indian stage, from the 20th to the 27th. presented by the director of the technical-scientific area Lucio Monte, the journalist and curator of foreign relations for the Michele Shah Institute and the Regional Councilor for Agriculture Dario Cartabellotta.
“We started two years ago – begins the Councillor, then General Director of the institution – with internationalization projects. Michele Shah was a little light in the darkness for us who knew how to guide us. Today the results are there, Sicily plays an increasingly important role abroad. A foreign country that now seems closer: a lot has changed and there is still much to change and certainly improve. Proposals are needed to continue a path that I believe is going the right way."
Norway, Asia and Germany will be the stops in February. In March Hong Kong, in April Expovinis in Brazil, in May another stop in Brazil, then London and Germany. In June the Vinexpo in Bordeaux and finally in October Poland, Switzerland and Megavino in Brussels. But not only that, Vinitaly is now imminent and for the occasion, meetings have been organized with emerging markets: China, Japan, Korea, Russia and the USA. Just as there will be no shortage of incomings, "a little penalized last year" according to some producers who attended the event. “Brand Building” is the strategy adopted by Michele Shah for these stages with the foreign market. A strategy that has proven successful so far, but this does not take away from the fact that the meeting that took place gave the opportunity to listen to those who work in the wine world, their difficulties, weak points, and above all the proposals. “Despite the fact that economic resources have suffered cuts – commented Monte – our work continues tirelessly, we are open to proposals, any criticism is constructive for us. We have done a lot and the scenario has changed positively in recent years. We would like to continue in this vein." The confirmation and growth of the Sicilia brand in the world: "this is - according to Shah - what we must carry forward".
