Onav, the 20th oenology and tasting course is underway
The Oenology and Tasting Course of the National Organization of Wine Tasters (ONAV) in Palermo celebrates its twentieth anniversary. And it does so with an even more detailed and complex course that will start on March 10th and which will involve students in basic lessons held by high-level speakers from the world of wine, but also internships and seminars that will address the new realities of the sector . For example, topics relating to biodynamic and natural wines will be explored in depth.
The Oenology Course by Onav includes, among its positive effects, that of having contributed to changing the perception of the figure of the taster. No longer a marginal and often misunderstood figure, but rather an increasingly competent figure with a certain weight in the wine world and beyond. Hence the great demand for membership which has grown in these twenty years. The desire on the part, even of people not in the sector, to know "what's in" a glass of wine. Knowing how to talk about it and also knowing how to judge. Learn the tasting technique, as well as the variety of vines, learn the biological processes as well as those linked to winemaking. In short, a complete excursus which, in various stages, will provide the necessary information for tasting a glass of wine. More than a thousand expert tasters have been trained in recent years. “We are very proud of our activity – comments the newly confirmed national vice president of Onav, Gianni Giardina, with satisfaction – aware of having contributed to a correct knowledge of wine as well as to its diffusion. But we don't stop here. We aim to improve and structure the course even more which, let us remember, - Giardina is keen to point out - gives the opportunity, to those who wish, to take part in the tasting commissions for the evaluation of Sicilian DOC wines. The course, which this year will be held at the well-known restaurant "Lo Strascino", will end on May 26th. Inaugurating it was the extraordinary commissioner of IRVO (Regional Institute of Wines and Oils of Sicily), Antonino Di Giacomo and the director of the institution, Lucio Monte. Registrations are limited and you have until February 28th. A maximum of 60 participants is expected.
