Oliva appointed head of technical-scientific area
Daniele Oliva is the new head of the technical-scientific area of IRVOS. The official nomination arrived yesterday: “I'm happy – comments Oliva – there is a lot of work to be done in the field of research”. A sector which in recent years, thanks to Oliva himself, has seen its surge at the regional body. In fact, the IRVOS laboratory has been the protagonist of numerous research aimed at improving the quality of Sicilian wine.
The highlight occurred last year with three publications in scientific journals, such as Plos One, in the sector of international standing. “My objective – states Oliva – will be to continue on the organizational model traced by Lucio Monte, now our director of the institute. Raising the quality of Sicilian wine products will be the primary objective."
And to do this, Oliva will avail itself of the collaboration of the presidents of the various wine associations on the island: "To establish a dialogue - he explains - which leads to identifying the true needs of producers and therefore channeling scientific research in this direction".
Meanwhile, Daniele Oliva has successfully returned from the Masterclass which was held on 15 July in Cortina during the VinoVip event. The successes achieved by the IRVOS laboratory in the last three years of research aimed at the possible transfer of technological protocols to the cellar were shown. A protocol for the production of wines without sulphites, the effects of yeast Candida zemplinina and the eno-valorisation ofisland of Linosa the themes presented. The experimental wines obtained were tasted, among which great success "was achieved - Oliva proudly reveals - by the Frappato 2011 Candida zemplinina".
