Montpellier, precision viticulture
Stop in Montpellier for the direction of the Regional Institute of Wines and Oils of Sicily. A stage in the name of technological innovation, especially as regards precision viticulture. An area which has achieved important results at the Montpellier research centre.
They enjoy a ten-year head start on research and studies. Hence the IRVOS mission born with the aim of a comparison but above all of growth in this sense. A training course was thus organized and planned which will be open to Sicilian producers. Training is expected to begin between April and May of the new year.
The stop in Montpellier was also an opportunity to make the Sicilian organization increasingly known internationally. The training course on precision viticulture will take place in three steps. But more details may be available with the start of the new year.
During the visit to Montpellier, the director of IRVOS, Lucio Monte, had the opportunity to meet Jacques Rousseau of ICV, a private institute that provides services based on the needs of wine producers. It is the latter who subsidize the institute. Ed Bruno Tisseyre, associate professor of Fruition-Science, another reality visited, where researchers carry out studies and provide data on the water status of the lands.
