Sicily at the 16th edition of Cibus
Sicily with its productions and its production traditions has what it takes to establish an image of great quality in the world. The island will reveal its excellence and its cultural identities, from 7 to 10 May, at the 16th edition of the Cibus reference sample of the Italian agri-food panorama of excellence which will take place at Fiere di Parma.
This year in the ducal city the attention of international buyers and professionals will be focused on the territorial characteristics that will highlight the many souls of Italy. From this perspective, Sicily is ready to bring out its central role within the Mediterranean Food Valley, revealing that great structural condition that has contributed to the formation of its productive excellence: biodiversity, the varied production traditions built on the different cultural influences that , over the centuries, have been able to forge a production quality recognized throughout the world which ranges from wine to oil through the fruit and vegetable sector up to the great Sicilian pastry shop.
The future of Sicily's agri-food sector also depends on the internationalization and promotion of "these talents". In recent years, the production rigor towards excellence combined with the producers' desire to enhance the cultural identity of each individual territory have constituted a production unicum which at Cibus will certainly find a showcase capable of increasing perception throughout the world. 18 companies will contribute to representing Sicily, supported by the synergistic action of the Department of Agricultural and Food Resources of the Sicilian Region and the Regional Institute of Wines and Oils of Sicily, which will take part in pavilion 6 stand K040/K046.
“Today more than ever – states Dario Cartabellotta, IRVOS general director – we need to work as a team to promote the Sicilia brand on international scenarios, the potential of which is still partly unexpressed. There are excellent starting conditions (a great production tradition and the desire to bring out the excellence and the different souls of Sicily) but it is necessary to adopt corrective measures that impact on the structural front and that favor the aggregation of companies in market penetration actions international. In this sense, the agreement between IRVOS and the Department of Agricultural and Food Resources is a first step towards the cohesion of the island's agri-food chain and which becomes important for improving the internationalization and perception of the Sicily brand".
