Donnafugata was born in Sicily from the initiative of a family with over 150 years of experience in quality wine. Giacomo Rallo and his wife Gabriella, with their sons Josè and Antonio, carry out an entrepreneurial project that focuses on attention to detail and puts man at the service of nature to produce wines that increasingly respond to the potential of the territory. Donnafugata's adventure began in 1983 from the historic cellars of the Rallo family in Marsala and in the vineyards of Contessa Entellina, in the heart of western Sicily;
in 1989 Donnafugata arrived on the island of Pantelleria where it began producing sweet natural wines. The name Donnafugata, literally "woman on the run", refers to the story of Queen Maria Carolina, wife of Ferdinand IV of Bourbon who in the early 19th century - having fled Naples due to the arrival of Napoleon's troops - took refuge in that part of Sicily where the company vineyards are located today

How to reach us:

From Palermo: From Palermo to the Donnafugata wineries in Via Lipari 18 in Marsala. Distance: approximately 120 km. Travel time: approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Take the A29 motorway to “Mazara del Vallo – Trapani”. After approximately 54 km, you arrive at a branch; from there you need to go in the direction of “Trapani – Birgi” and continue for about 43 km. You must never leave the motorway, but follow it to the end, that is, near the Trapani-Birgi airport where - at the roundabout - you must keep right and take the SP 21 (Trapani-Marsala Provincial Road) in the direction of Marsala and continue for approximately 15 km. Once you arrive in the city, continue along the seafront (always keeping the sea on your right), first pass the fishing/commercial port and then the tourist port; follows an ERG petrol station after which, at the crossroads, you have to turn left onto Via Sebastiano Lipari. Immediately after the level crossing on the left you will find n°18 and a gate with a surrounding wall with the acronym AVD. Walk along the private road and ring the intercom at the next gate: you have arrived!
