Cracolici visiting IRVO
Visit of the regional councilor for Agriculture Antonello Cracolici, today, Friday 29 January, at the IRVO headquarters. A visit well received by the staff who had the opportunity to discuss various issues with the councilor.
“It was a pleasure for us – comments the general director, Lucio Monte – to receive the visit of the councilor who we highly respect for his political competence and general vision. It was a moment of discussion in which we had the opportunity to make the areas we deal with known in more detail." From research to certification, from planning and promotion, all of this is the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil which in these years of "economic hardship" "has never taken a step back in guaranteeing services and quality", underlines the director. Councilor Cracolici is enthusiastic and agrees: “Irvo is the 'foreign ministry' of Sicilian wine, and the same will be the case for our oil”, he declared.
Wine and oil are in fact the areas in which the organization carries out its activities but from today it will also open up to the world of wheat. This is in fact what Cracolici asked the Institute for, namely the certification of ancient Sicilian grains. “Our island has its excellence in wine and oil – he said – but we must also protect and promote the ancient Sicilian grains which represent a heritage to be valorised through specific supply chains”.
Finally, the councilor spoke about the reorganization of the entities owned by the Region. “This process – he said – must not jeopardize the role of those who, like the Institute of Wine and Oil, are an important reference for producers. Indeed – concluded Cracolici – the hope is that the Institute will increasingly assume a strategic role in the research sector, to improve the quality of our productions and the coordination of promotional activities in Italy and abroad”.
