Nineteenth edition which was held in Portugal in Guimàrais from 3 to 6 May. Eight thousand and 400 wines and spirits from around fifty countries around the world
like France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Chile, South Africa and Switzerland, have been analyzed by three hundred and sixteen commissioners. Sicily has had its fill this year. Two hundred wines were sent from the island. Five commissioners from Sicily including oenologists and journalists: Massimiliano Barbera, Luciano Parrinello, Tonino Guzzo, Saverio Abbate and Luigi Salvo. “Despite the crisis in the Sicilian wine sector – commented Barbera – it represents an important result which is the result of the comparison between the world of research and the production world over the last decade”.
