IRVO: three notices published for companies in the wine, olive oil and agri-food supply chain

The Regional Institute of Sicilian Wine and Oil presents a prestigious program for the month of January 2025, with important BtoB between Sicilian companies and qualified international buyers

I am three calls for tenders by the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil has published in favor of the cellars, the oil companies and, for the first time, some meeting opportunities will also be open to specific sectors of the agri-food sector, precisely to strengthen the idea of "food and wine heritage" as a driving force in the promotion of the Region. 

The first, in chronological order, is “Essentia-Sicily Taste&Travel” 13/16 January 2025. 

The project aims to promote and enhance wine and oil tourism in Sicily, having as a framework the prestigious recognition of European Region of Gastronomy 2025, recently awarded, to enhance the food and wine tourism offer, increasing the international visibility of Sicily. 

The main objective is to use this recognition to strengthen the link between tourism, culture and typical local products, especially wine and oil, and to attract a global audience, with the creation of real food and wine tours in collaboration with local companies.

The project will be divided into two phases. The first with a BtoB, on 13 and 14 January 2025, in Palermo, in which 15 Sicilian PMI companies (micro, small and medium enterprises) producing DOP/IGP wines and 15 Sicilian PMI companies producing DOP/IGP extra virgin olive oil, will have the opportunity to present their wine and oil tourism project ideas to national and European Union, English and North American buyers in the luxury travel sector and 5 journalists/influencers. 

The second phase of the educational tour will follow, taking place on January 15th and 16th in western and eastern Sicily, during which qualified operators will visit 8 wineries and 4 oil mills, specially selected.

The January 20th 2025 the promotional event will stop at Lugano, in Swiss, for the second event “BtoB CCIS 2025”. Here the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Switzerland has organized a BtoB with qualified experts aimed at 12 Sicilian SME companies producing DOP/IGP wines and oils with an annual turnover of less than 3 million euros.

Companies in this turnover range will also be able to participate in the appointments of incoming from 22 to 24 January 2025 with food & beverage operators from the United Arab Emirates.  

The project includes both a BtoB phase on January 24th and company visits respectively Eastern Sicily And in western Sicily, specially selected, on January 22 and 23, 2024.

This call will also select SME companies, producers of agri-food products, with the exclusion of wine, meat, fish and dairy products.

«The promotion program that we have designed for 2025 – explains Giusi Mistretta, Commissioner of the Authority – wants to push and promote the centrality of Sicily as a destination of excellence in the panorama of wine and oil tourism and offer unique experiences that can allow the right relaunch of our production and food and wine heritage at an international level. IRVO is alongside Sicilian companies to tell the stories of our territory and at the same time to offer growth opportunities, also in terms of exports, to small and medium-sized companies».
