Chinese buyers visiting the organic lands of Sicily

prodotti-tipici-sicilia

They are visiting food and wine Sicily far and wide. A tour that started from Marsala and will reach Etna. From Thursday 21st to 24th February a delegation of buyers from China, a nation that increasingly appreciates Sicilian organic agri-food production, is having the opportunity to visit the companies, tasting the productions live and learning about the various production steps.

The event was organized as part of the OFOM project, or Organic Food Organic Mood, created for the promotion of Italian organic farming products on the Chinese market. It was made possible thanks to the collaboration between associations, institutions, consortia and commercial entities, such as Federbio, Bioagricoop, Bioagricert, Regione Sicilia, IRVOS, Città di Marsala, Città di Vittoria, ONAV, Alt-Wines, Sicily Organic Wine, Sicilia Bio , Isola Bio Sicily, Città del Bio.

Wine, oil, jams, dried fruit, pasta, honey, vegetable and fish preserves. In short, the excellence of Sicilian production will be the true protagonist. Moreover, direct knowledge between producer and buyer certainly favors commercial discussions which could then lead to interesting economic agreements for the island.

The first stop was Marsala and in particular the IRVOS Experimental Cellar. Here the manager Dr. Giuseppe Russo showed buyers the various rooms of the cellar and the research and experimental work that the organization carries out. Following, a technical tasting by Giuseppe Genna of four experimental wines from the cellar: a Grillo, a Nero d'Avola and two Passiti, one from Pantelleria and one from Linosa. The Chinese buyers, together with a group of Japanese colleagues, had already been involved a few days ago in Bologna, as part of the same project, in an ABC of tasting organized by the Institute's oenologist Gianni Giardina. This was then followed by the tasting of organic Sicilian wines and oils.
