The decalogue for drinking wine in a conscious and quality way: here is the new manifesto.

A decalogue with ten points to explain to young people how to consciously consume wine.
Here is the first result achieved at the end of the conference organized by the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil and the Diocese of Acireale, with the contribution of the Sicilian regional department of agriculture, rural development and Mediterranean fishing, of the Cooperative Credit Bank of Pachino, of the municipality of Linguaglossa , of the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia and the patronage of the Sicilian regional education and professional training department, which was held in Linguaglossa (Ct) a few days ago. A "manifesto" that will serve as a basis for involving students and others in the cultural approach to the world of wine. The conference entitled "Wine quality and conscious consumption among young people" was attended by, among others, the mayor of Linguaglossa Salvatore Puglisi, Monsignor Nino Raspanti, bishop of Acireale and Vincenzo Cusumano, director of the Regional Wine and Oil Institute. Interesting speeches by Corrado Bonfanti, Regional Coordinator of the Sicilian Wine City and Mayor of Noto; Salvatore Cacciola, director of the Education and Health Promotion Unit of the ASP of Catania; Giuseppe Disclafani, head of the Mediterranean Diet Commission - Palermo Medical Association, Co-Head of the National Gastroenterological Area of the Italian Society of General Medicine; Gianfranco Marrone, professor of semiotics at the University of Palermo; Antonio Benanti, president of the Etna Doc wine protection consortium, moderated by the director of Cronache di Gusto Fabrizio Carrera.
“The idea for this meeting came from a chat with Benanti – says Irvo director Vincenzo Cusumano – An initiative in which we wanted to involve the diocese of Acireale and the Città del Vino association. We started from the importance of making young people understand conscious consumption of wine, but also of shining a spotlight on everything cultural that revolves around this world, trying to explain what a quality wine is, how it is produced, stimulating knowledge of the territories. I believe that millennials, as young consumers are called today, are particularly interested in this topic, deepening their knowledge of wine. Here, in Linguaglossa, we have laid the foundations to compile, together with the experts, a decalogue on how and what young people should approach the world of wine. We, like Irvo, have every interest in ensuring that young people focus only on the consumption, albeit in moderation, of quality wines, discovering what is behind a bottle, the production of wine and its thousand-year history".
“I focused on the cultural aspect of wine – explains Antonio Benanti, president of Etna Doc – Because I believe that in order to understand it, and therefore communicate it, it is necessary to delve deeper into the topics linked to that specific territory, to history. Consuming a glass of wine is a moment of cultural elevation, it can be an opportunity to study our country. I don't think there are other products that boast these features. Which is so intertwined with the world of food, another excellence of our country, a real strong point. And so we must exploit this wine-food "combination", describing our country through the world of food and wine. A world that then gives you the opportunity to do continuous training, to follow courses of all types. Not to mention, now, wine tourism, an important opportunity for young people who are approaching the world of work. Because wine tourism, in addition to being important for companies, allows tourists to discover a perhaps little-known territory and to de-seasonalize this flow of arrivals, perhaps far from classic seaside tourism. There are several possibilities for those who want to enter this sector."
Then he concludes: “Naturally, conscious, moderate consumption of quality wines must be made – he says – Here we are lucky enough to be in a territory that is unique for its characteristics. Here is the very important aspect of the conference. Encourage this type of consumption. Make kids understand that they can drink, always in moderation, but of the highest quality. And our territory has peaks of excellence and products made in a healthy context, which must be discovered and communicated to the world".
