The story of Spadafora bottled wine begins almost twenty years ago, in the summer of '88, when my father decided it was better to explore another world to see what it was like; so from the countryside of Mussomeli, a family property in the Sicilian hinterland where I grew wheat, I moved to Virzì to take care of the vineyards, transforming the grapes into wine. And I am immediately passionate about it, imagining what would have pleased my father and what would have pleased me.
After tastings and tests, in '93 I decided that I would make wine only with grapes grown in this land and I produced the first bottle, which I obviously named after my father: Don Pietro.
Now let's get back to who we are and what we do. I take up a short text that I had written some time ago in a joking tone for a presentation of the Company and which, more or less, goes like this: Every official presentation of the Company should describe the place where it fits into the surrounding area (Municipality of Monreale ; hills between 250 and 400 meters above sea level) should then describe how many hectares of vineyards (95 hectares of vineyards) and also which other crops (approximately 20 hectares of olive groves), for a total of 180 hectares of property; finally it should certainly outline the company's philosophy, say how the plants are grown and what types of grapes are grown (Catarratto, Grillo, Inzolia and Chardonnay among the white ones and Syrah, Cabernet, Merlot and Nero d'Avola among the black ones). In short, the presentation should photograph the places and the grapes in a few lines and then get to the various descriptions of the bottles.
