“Vienergy Vigna Energetica” seminars
Two seminars on the Project's themes will take place on 13 and 14 November at the Abele Damiani Agricultural Institute in Marsala; the actions already carried out and those in progress will be handled by expert representatives of the individual Partners.
VIENERGY “Energy Vineyard” is financed with the Italy-Malta Operational Program 2007-2013 which aims to achieve the following General Objective: "Strengthen the attractiveness and competitiveness of the cross-border area in compliance with the principle of environmental sustainability".
In particular, within it, priority axis 1 is also aimed at achieving the Specific Objective of contributing to the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The Regional Institute of Wine and Oil (IRVO) is the leader of the project which makes use of the contribution of the following Partners: Research Consortium for the Development of Innovative Agro-environmental Systems of Palermo (CO.RI.SSIA), Center for Economic Studies applied to Catania Engineering (CSEI), Alternative BioEnergy srl of Marsala TP (ABE), The Ministry for Sustainable, Development, the Environment and Climate Change of Malta (MSDEC) and University of Malta.
In short summary, the project activities are:
the evaluation of the available energy potential through the estimate of the quantities of residual biomass available;
the use of an additive of agricultural origin for the production of E-diesel, its characterization in an ethanol/diesel mixture with potential use on public transport;
the reuse of winemaking wastewater through phytopurification systems;
the capture of CO2 from alcoholic fermentation to be used to fuel an algae production plant with photobioreactor;
the use of solar energy for the cold needs of cellar systems.
