Meeting at Ars, Di Giacomo: “We need two million euros”
Two million euros. This is the request made by the extraordinary commissioner of IRVO, Nino Di Giacomo, to the Regional Budget Commission which met yesterday afternoon, 18 September, at the ARS. “It is the sum necessary – explains Di Giacomo – to carry out all those activities, as well as first of all the payment of employee salaries, undertaken by the organisation”.
With these intentions, the commissioner illustrated to the members of the commission the mission that the Regional Wine and Oil Institute carries out: “The institution is committed on various fronts. – began the commissioner – From research to certification, from know-how in the trade fair sector for the wine and oil sector to traceability. And last but not least, also in the food safety sector thanks to the strengthening and valorisation of the Ispica headquarters through which IRVO's skills will be expanded".
A highly respectable mission which saw the support of the director of the Agriculture Department, Rosaria Barresi, during the meeting yesterday. But not only that, the commission, chaired by the Honorable Antonino Dina, had the opportunity to appreciate and recognize the value of IRVO. Also present at the meeting, which also involved the other bodies subject to control and supervision by the Agriculture Department, such as ESA and the land reclamation consortia, were the Economy Councilor Roberto Agnello and the regional accountant Mariano Pisciotta. “Among other things – concluded Di Giacomo – we have also been recognized as a control body for the PGI certification of olive oil”.
