Promed looks to the future

promed

New paths for research. The Promed project looks to the future. The Regional Institute of Wines and Oils of Sicily, leader of the project, in collaboration with the Management Authority of the Italy-Malta Operational Program 2007/2013, organized an institutional visit in which two representatives of the European Commission, Maria Carvalho and Manuela Passos (center in the photo).

The work program included a workshop during which the representatives of the project partners not only had the opportunity to highlight the results achieved within the cooperation project on the islands of Linosa, Pantelleria, Malta and Gozo, but also the opportunity to identify elements of interest for a possible continuation of the project.
“We are really very satisfied with the attention that the European Commission has shown towards this project – stated Lucio Monte, director of IRVOS and scientific director of the project –. Both the Institute and the other project partners have certainly invested a lot of resources in Promed, also putting a lot of passion into the work done. And the results have paid off for us: we have continued a path that has allowed us to achieve great goals on both the viticultural and oenological fronts and we hope that this can be not only a point of arrival but also a starting point for future collaborations" .
The institutional visit was also organized in order to share some strategic and programmatic priorities in the wine sector for the reprogramming activities of the 2014-2020 community funds. To this end, the activity continued in Pantelleria with visits to three production companies on the island.
