From Sicily to England, Sicilian wines are the protagonists

IRVOS's work on the internationalization front does not stop. While the incoming event which involved buyers and foreign press from the BRIC area and Eastern Europe is coming to an end, we are preparing for the important stage in London: the Wines of Sicily Tasting. It will be held on 2 October at the prestigious Altitude location of Millbank Tower.

“London is one of those metropolises where trends and styles have such momentum as to become influential throughout the planet – explains Marcello Caruso, Extraordinary Commissioner of the Institute – presiding over this wine and communication platform at the highest levels is increasingly strategic , and not just for the British and European markets. Wine communication aimed at South-East Asia passes through here, as well as the USA and Canada. Trading relationships between London and these markets are historically strong."

A record attendance (forty participating wineries) for a successful format branded IRVOS and coordinated by Michele Shah srl: technical tasting seminars dedicated to the best labels and vines entrusted to a Master Wine - in this case it will be Angela Muir - and to the functional Walk Around Tasting in which companies, in complete freedom, can personally meet prestigious guests and have a wider range of products tasted. “Our commitment – underlines Dario Cartabellotta, director of the Infrastructure Department of the Regional Department of Agriculture – is aimed at supporting companies in their internationalization processes, aiming not only at a wider distribution but also at a better positioning of our labels , especially in the medium-high market segments. Only in this way will we be consistent with what has been achieved in recent years in Sicily. We have produced less and better, the range of companies that produce quality has significantly expanded, now we must increase the market value of our products which are increasingly liked by international consumers and are receiving significant critical recognition".

There will instead be eighteen producers from Etna who will take part in the second edition of the "Real Italian Wine", the wine event entirely dedicated to the promotion of Italian wines in the United Kingdom which this year will also involve companies from Basilicata, Puglia, Umbria and Abruzzo. Real Italian Wine will take place on 3 October at the prestigious Church House Conference Centre.
